26. The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 2-3. If the number of boys is 12, find the number of girls.

Sagot :

8:15

Solution:

Let the total number of students = 100

Ratio of boys and girls = 2:3

2 + 3 = 5

No. of boys

[tex] = \frac{2}{5} \times 100 =40[/tex]

No. of girls

[tex] = \frac{3}{5} \times 100=60[/tex]

If 20% of the boys leaves the class then 20% of 40.

[tex] \frac{20}{100} \times 40 = 8[/tex]

×40=8

Now number of boys = 40 − 8 = 32

New ratio = 32:60⇒8:15
