How shall the local government respond to the covid-19?
- The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been most acutely felt at the local level. That is also where response and recovery efforts have been most critical. The role of local leaders has been extremely vital in determining how well cities have responded since the start of the outbreak.
• One, prioritize food systems as an essential service that will continue to operate during periods of lockdown, emergency or other health containment measures.
• Two, establish a local government food system coordination committee and functional governance mechanism to prioritize, plan and oversee operations.
• Three, provide leadership to rapidly activate or develop a COVID-19 food system response plan.
-At the institutional level, local governments also mobilised their resources to shore up support for health services and facilities, and extended assistance to the most vulnerable to stay safe and healthy.
As a student how we can help our local government to control the covid-19 pandemic?
- The COVID-19 pandemic demands that we remain vigilant in our daily lives as we return to everyday activities. We can each take some simple steps to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities. As a student, we could help our locals to control the rapid of the pandemic by the following :
• The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed (or exposing others) to this virus.
• Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.
• Stay informed and ensure others do too.
• Speak up to ensure your organisation does the right thing.
• Encourage others to take precautions, including washing your hands regularly, keeping a social distance from others and staying home when you’re sick. Basic actions like this can help limit the virus’ spread and its impact on public health, society and the economy.
