Mouth. When you eat, foods start to digest from this digestive organ. Your teeth and your tongue play their roles--foods are cut into smaller pieces through your teeth and are mixed with your saliva with the help of your tongue. Food will then be swallowed and moved into the esophagus

Esophagus. The muscles will tend to push foods down to your stomach through muscle contraction called peristalsis. And then, these allow food to pass into your stomach. Muscles will have to relax to fully pass foods into it. These will then contract again so that food won't come back to your esophagus.

Stomach. This is located in your abdominal cavity. Gastric juice has to mix with food with the help of your stomach muscles by contracting to be able to squeeze the food and become thick, called chyme. Your stomach will then be empty and the churning action begins with the small intestine.

Small intestine. The digestion of food does occur. Digestive juices including such enzymes are mixed into the food to stabilize digestion. Waste materials will then be moved into the large one.

Large intestine. This wall absorbs water from undigested materials to have semi-solid content called feces or stool. This material moves along the intestine and move into the rectum through peristalsis.

Rectum. Feces are now collected and are ready to be excreted through the anus during a bowel movement.
