Explanation of Integers:
Integers are positive (1) and negative (-1)
To add integers the rule is:
If you add positive and negative the problem will be subtraction
Example:
2 + (-1) = 1
2 is subtracted to -1 because 1 is negative.
If the negative value is bigger than the positive then the result would be negative
Example:
2 + (-3) = -1
-3 is higher than 2 that is why -1 is the result
To subtract integers the rule is:
If you subtract positive and negative the problem will be addition
Example:
2 - (-1) = 3
If the second number is negative change the problem to addition making it
2 + 1
Then if you subtract negative to positive the problem will be subtraction
Example:
-1 - 2 = -3
lets say that -2 is negative because of the minus sign that is why -3 is the result
To Multiply integers the rule is:
If you multiply positive and negative it would be negative
and if you multiply negative to negative it would be positive
Example:
2 x (-1) = -2
-1 is negative and 2 is positive that is why -2 is the result
Example:
-2 x (-1) = 2
-2 is negative and -1 is negative making the result positive.
To Divide integers the rule is:
If you divide positive and negative it would be negative
and if you divide negative to negative it would be positive
Example:
2 / (-1) = -2
-1 is negative and 2 is positive that is why -2 is the result
Example:
-2 / (-1) = 2
-2 is negative and -1 is negative making the result positive.
