ACTIVITY 3: BIAS DETECTIVE
A. Directions: Read each scenario and decide which statement is
bias. Write the number in each blank.
1. Teddy's family own cats, dogs, parrots and rabbits. Teddy
feeds them everyday. He plays with all of them. He likes cats rather
than dogs which are not charming. He considers it easy to take care of, friendly and
fun to play with
2. My sister found wool itchy and too warm to wear. So she never tried to wear
that piece of clothing She always refused to touch it. She prefers cotton for all her
clothes
3. Ashley bought blue shawl. She chose blue roses for her glass vase. She put
all her purchases in her blue basket. She rode home with her blue bicycle. For her,
blue connotes peace and calmness unlike black that connotes death. Everyone knows
it is her favorite color
4. My friends know how to play different instruments. Gigi plays piano. Levi
strums the guitar. Bong lonows how to play drums. While I sing with them. If we
create a band, our musie will be better than other loud rock bands
5. Fruit juice and milk tea are both served at my family's restaurant. Many
customers buy fruit juice based from the sales Athletes have the most orders as
shown in the record book. They visit the restaurant weekly Fruit juice is an essential
drink to be a good athlete other than chemical added juices

He likes cats ratherthan dogs which are not charming. (We all have our own personal likings when it comes to pets but this statement is really bias since dogs are charming too. I love pups, actually. It's bias to say that dogs aren't charming.)

2. I can't say which statement is bias but I think it's:

My sister found wool itchy and too warm to wear. (I'm not confident with this since almost all of the statements are highly opinionated)

3.Blue connotes peace and calmness unlike black that connotes death (I think it's too bias to say black connotes death. I mean, personally, I like black from phone, phone cases,bags,shoes,hair pins,eyeglasses t-shirts, blouses, pants to bracelets.To some,black is everything ( like me).Some found peace in black y'know✨

4.If wecreate a band, our music will be better than other loud rock bands. (I envy the confidence but this is obviously bias. You can't just say that you're gonna be the best among all well-knowned rock bands out there just because of every member's talent. Hun, talent isn't everything.)

5.Fruit juice is an essential drink to be a good athlete other than chemical added juices. (Seems bias to me like he or she wants to present facts but offers only opinion?)
