1. Denial and addiction go hand-in-hand unfortunately. Who wants to admit that they are powerless of alcohol, a fluid? It’s pretty humbling to admit such a thing and many people can’t bring themselves to do that until things get really bad.
2. Alcoholism is a progressive, degenerative disease. If a person who is an alcoholic does not stop drinking, they have three options. 1) Jail, 2) Insanity, or 3) Death. In the process they also hurt everyone who is around them too.
It’s a terrible disease.
