Sagot :
[tex]\sf\large\bold{Answer:}[/tex]
b. 1 2/7
[tex]\sf\large\bold{Solution \: \: With \: \: Explanation:}[/tex]
First, divide the numerator (9) by the denominator (7) using long division. Please refer to the first given image above to see how I divide them.
Based on the first given image, 1 is the whole number, 2 is the numerator and, 7 is the denominator. I'm sure all of you know how to divide numbers using long division right? Since the topic is all about fractions, and this topic is for Grade 5 students based from my experience.
Example:
Improper Fraction I Used:
[tex]\bold{\frac{8}{5}}[/tex]
Like what I said earlier, please refer to the second image because I can't write it here.
Based from the second image, 1 is the whole number again, 3 is the numerator and, 5 is the denominator.
Additional Knowledge!
So here, we're going to learn on how to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions (opposite).
Mixed Number I Used:
[tex]\bold{2 \frac{1}{4}}[/tex]
Multiply the denominator by the whole number, after you get the product, add or plus the numerator to that product then, copy the denominator of the mixed number.
Okay, so 4 × 2 is equal to 8, now, add 1 or plus 1 to the product, so 8 + 1 is equal to 9. Then, just copy the denominator of the mixed number which is 4.
So, if we convert [tex]2 \frac{1}{4}[/tex] into an improper fraction, we'll get [tex]\bold{\frac{9}{4}}[/tex].
Please refer to the third given image for you to understand it more.
[tex]\sf\large\bold{Note:}[/tex]
I provide three images for you to understand this topic.
I hope this answer helps you.
