1. He closed the box up quicky and stuffed it down into the bottom of the
canvas knapsack that he used for a book bag. Then he ran back to his classroom.
2. I was grieved to hear of my slave's death, but as my son had only
disappeared, I thought I should first find him. Eight months, however, passed, and still no tidings of him.
3. The smiles on the faces of the three merchants vanished. The judged said
again, "You will be left alone here in the dark. You will see nothing but the eyes of the statue. Though it is
dark here, the eyes of truth will seek out the guilty person. So, if you stole Chang's garlic, beware for some
time during the night, the god would make a mark on your back."
4. “There is something horrible in that box," though Hiyas. She remembered
what she heard in the radio and watched on television about a series of bombing and bank robbery
incidents in different cities. The more she thought about the suspicious-looking men, the more she believed
that the men were bank robbers and bombers as well.
5. One day, I rummaged through a pile of magazines. I learned that they
belonged to my Aunt Alice, Since I knew she no longer needed them. I started cutting beautiful pictures of
scenery from the magazines. There were pictures of mountains, rivers, lakes, hills, trees and the
countryside. Some pictures show people hiking, fishing, and boating. Looking at them made me feel good,
so I pasted them on the wall. Grandpa did not notice the pictures on the wall for two days.​
